The requirement was for a very large bio-chemical factory with multiple building spread across few acres. Fire sensors had been installed at different locations in the factory. Any detection by the sensor would raise an alert at the particular place. The alert would then be relayed to the security personnel who in turn would inform all departments (one after the other) to take necessary action. This was very time consuming and also prone to mistakes of missing out on some departments. The company was on the lookout for an automated solution that would alert all departments immediately in case an alarm was raised anywhere in the factory.
Tarang modules running TarangMesh were interfaced to the fire alarm systems and installed at various places around the factory.

Mesh networking is a type of networking where in each node in the network acts as an router, when it is a part of a network. It allows for data to be transmitted around broken or blocked paths by “hopping” from node to node until the destination is reached. In Mesh networks the devices are connected to only one other device and can be mobile. The routers apart from the routing functionality can also be serving one other device connected to its interface.
Any alarm raised by any of the sensor will be instantly relayed to all other departments and the required alarms raised. The benefits of this solution were:
- No manual intervention required.
